The Tatehana Wharf morning market in Hachinohe is one of Japan’s largest — over 300 stalls line the wharf from around 3am each Sunday (spring–autumn), selling fresh seafood, grilled fish, local snacks and handmade goods. Fishermen and farmers trade directly with the public in a wholly local, un-touristy atmosphere.
