The Aomori Nebuta Festival is one of Japan’s three great festivals — and arguably its most spectacular. Each evening from August 2–7, giant illuminated warrior figures up to 9 m wide parade through Aomori City, accompanied by thousands of Haneto dancers chanting ‘Rassera!’ The final night sees floats carried out onto Aomori Bay with fireworks.
