The Hachinohe Sansha Taisai is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage festival held over five days in late July–early August. A grand procession of 27 towering, elaborately decorated floats bearing mythological tableaux rolls through the city, uniting three major Hachinohe shrines in a 290-year tradition of music, costume and pageantry.
