The Senjojiki Coast at Fukaura is a broad, flat shelf of pale volcanic rock, thrust up from the sea by an earthquake in 1792. A celebrated stop on the scenic Gono Line, it’s known for spectacular Sea of Japan sunsets and easy shoreline strolling over the tabletop rocks.
