The Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum is considered one of the world’s top three dinosaur museums, housed in a striking dome-shaped building and showcasing full dinosaur skeletons, fossils and interactive exhibits, many excavated from Fukui itself, which has proven to be one of Japan’s richest dinosaur fossil sites. The museum displays around 50 full dinosaur skeletons alongside detailed exhibits on prehistoric life, and visitors can also join guided tours to an actual fossil excavation site nearby to see ongoing palaeontological work in progress.
