The Fukuoka Art Museum, set in a corner of Ohori Park, is one of the leading art museums in Kyushu, reopened after a major renovation with a bright, welcoming design. Its wide-ranging collection spans two main strands: historic Japanese and Asian art, including Buddhist sculpture, tea-ceremony ceramics and old works connected to the region, and modern and contemporary art, with pieces by international masters such as Dalí, Miró, Chagall and Andy Warhol alongside Japanese artists. A striking Yayoi Kusama pumpkin sculpture greets visitors near the entrance.
