  • Late spring to autumn (May–Oct); July–August is peak with the best weather and flowers.
  • Hokkaido summers are cool and dry compared with the rest of Japan — ideal for riding.
  • Watch for bigger gaps between services than on Honshu — carry water, snacks and tools.

  • Rentals (including e-bikes) are available in Sapporo, Furano, Biei and resort towns.
  • Trains often allow bikes (bagged); plan a point-to-point with rail support.
