Hitachi Seaside Park is one of Japan’s most visually spectacular seasonal destinations, its rolling coastal hills transforming completely twice a year. Each April and May, roughly 5.3 million nemophila flowers blanket Miharashi Hill in a vivid blue that seems to merge with the sky, while each October the same hillside turns fiery red as thousands of kochia bushes change colour for autumn. Beyond the flower seasons, the park’s 350 hectares include cycling trails, a large Ferris wheel, cherry blossoms, and rose and tulip gardens across the changing seasons.

Getting There
- By train: JR Katsuta Station, then a 15-min bus to the park’s entrance.

Tips
Peak nemophila and kochia weekends draw enormous crowds — arrive at opening time for the best photos and shortest queues. Bicycle rental is available on-site and is the most efficient way to cover the park’s large area.
