Nanbu senbei are crisp, round wheat crackers baked in iron molds, a rustic staple of the historic Nanbu region spanning northern Iwate and Aomori. Often studded with sesame or peanuts, they come plain, sweet, or savory, and the puffed rim (mimi) is a favourite. A cheap, tasty and very portable Iwate souvenir.
