Ryusendo is one of Japan’s three great limestone caves. Its underground lakes glow an impossibly vivid cobalt blue under the lights, with water clarity measured at over 40 metres — among the world’s clearest. A 700-metre illuminated walking route passes stalactites, underground rivers and silent crystal pools.
