What Is a Maiko Makeover?
A maiko makeover (maiko henshin) is a costume-and-makeup experience offered by specialist studios in Kyoto. Trained staff recreate the full maiko look:
- White makeup (oshiroi): Applied to the face, neck, and nape in the traditional style.
- Hair & ornaments: A styled traditional wig (katsura) decorated with seasonal kanzashi hairpins.
