Huis Ten Bosch, in Sasebo in western Nagasaki, is one of Japan’s largest theme parks, recreating a Dutch town in loving detail across a huge waterfront site. Tips
Come in tulip season (spring) or for the winter illuminations, the park’s two most spectacular times, and allow a full day or an overnight stay to see it properly. Buy the passport ticket that includes attractions, wear comfortable shoes as the park is huge, and stay into the evening for the illuminations if you can.
