Kashihara Jingu is a grand Meiji-era shrine at the foot of Mt. Unebi, dedicated to Japan’s legendary first emperor, Jimmu. Its wide gravel approaches, cypress halls and forested grounds make it one of Nara’s most spacious and dignified shrines, hugely popular for New Year prayers.
