Tanzan Shrine, tucked in the hills of Sakurai, is famed for Japan’s only thirteen-story wooden pagoda and for the historic meeting that sparked the Taika Reforms. Framed by around 3,000 maples, it is one of Nara’s most beautiful autumn-foliage shrines.
