Emerald Beach is a lovely, immaculately maintained public beach within Ocean Expo Park on the Motobu Peninsula in northern Okinawa, right beside the famous Churaumi Aquarium. True to its name, it fronts clear emerald and turquoise water, with soft white sand divided into distinct areas for swimming, playing and relaxing. Because it’s a park beach, it’s exceptionally clean, safe and well-equipped, with lifeguards during the season, showers, rest areas and a calm, netted swimming zone — making it ideal for families and less confident swimmers. The water is shallow and gentle, and the views out over the sea toward the offshore islands are beautiful. As it’s part of Ocean Expo Park, it pairs perfectly with a visit to the Churaumi Aquarium and the park’s other attractions, letting you combine sightseeing with a relaxing swim.
