Tempozan is Osaka’s waterfront leisure district, built around the bay at the mouth of the Aji river and easily reached from the city centre. Its two landmarks dominate: the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, one of the largest aquariums in the world, whose central tank recreates the Pacific with whale sharks and rays; and the Tempozan Ferris Wheel, a 112-metre giant that was among the world’s tallest when built and glows in colour after dark. Around them cluster a market and dining hall, harbour cruise boats and the Legoland Discovery Centre, making it a full family day by the sea.
