Kamikochi Alpine Valley
Japan's most pristine alpine valley โ Kamikochi sits at 1,500 m in the Northern Alps, accessible only by bus and taxi (private cars are banned MayโNovember). The crystal-clear Azusa River flows past the iconic Kappa-bashi suspension bridge with the jagged Hotaka peaks rising directly behind it, creating one of Japan's most photographed landscapes. Taisho Pond, formed by a 1915 volcanic eruption, reflects the snow-capped mountains in near-perfect stillness.
